Nowadays, when you Google something, the answer to your question is right there on the search page. You have to scroll way down to find the actual websites that provided the information in the first place. So people read the answer and never visit the sites. OR they skip Google altogether and just ask ChatGPT or Claude.
As a result, visits to this website have plummeted over the last 2 years. And honestly, it makes sense, I can't be mad about it.
But it also doesn't give me much motivation to spend time and money updating pages when fewer and fewer people are actually visiting them. And the hard work I do is essentially stolen by AI.
Producing and maintaining this website takes time and money. While I do make a little money from the ads displayed on this site, that revenue has never covered the cost of running it. It's simply helped offset some of the expenses. Now, with fewer visitors than ever that gap has only gotten bigger.
I don't want to shut down my website completely (it's my baby!), but I do need to make changes.
Going forward, I'll only be actively updating the 10 most-visited pages on the website. The rest will remain available for you to reference, but they will no longer be updated due to the time and costs involved in maintaining them.
If this makes you sad, hey, me too! But we can't fight BIG AI.
