St. Patrick's Day in Calgary

Sunday March 17, 2019

GREEN BEER IS HERE!  It is totally acceptable to show up to work hungover/still drunk on a Monday if St. Patrick's day happens to fall on a Sunday as it does this year.  Here is a list of the most authentic, fun, busy and best places to go in Calgary on St. Patrick's day.  Visit one, or many, of these Calgary Irish pubs and do your best to party like a fake Irish person.  Ahoy! Wait, oh, that's pirate. My bad.

Ceili's Pubs

Ceili's now has a new location on 17th ave!  They moved into the old Roosevelt (then briefly Hostel) location.  Both locations will be open at 10am for Sunday St. Patrick's day.  They will be serving a $5 Irish Breakfast until 1PM.  And have a number drink specials such as $5 Jameson's shots. Both locations will have bands starting at 2PM. And tons of swag and prize giveaways. So make sure you wear a costume as that will probably help! Advance tickets are $10 and it will likely cost more at the door.  They are taking reservations which is a good idea if you want a spot to sit!

Jameson's - 17th ave

Jameson's is planning separate parties on Saturday and Sunday for St. Patrick's.  Saturday specials: $3 off Nachos, Party Platters & Fish n Chips. $4 Highballs & Select Shooters 1oz. $24 Buckets of Corona. Sunday features a $9.00 Irish breakfast from 10am–11:30am and $4.00 for a Guinness or Keith's from 10-11 am, ($5.00 from 11am to noon).  Frontiers are playing at the 17th ave location (numerous sets) from 11:45 am-6 pm on Sunday. Morrrissey is playing Brentwood at the same set times.  Irish dancers are at 3:15 and 7:15 pm both locations.  Cover charge is $20 on Saturday and $5 on Sunday.  They are accepting reservations from 10 am - 11am on Sunday only.

Fionn MacCool's Beltline Irish Pub

I've never been to Fionn MacCool's and to be honest didn't know it existed until I started to do research on St. Patrick's day.   They seem to be having an all weekend celebration though with a mix of celtic music during the day and a DJ at night.  Does anyone know anything about this place? Apparently there are two locations, Beltline and Eau claire.

On Sunday March 17th James Joyce will have a full Irish menu and a day long performance by Calgary's best Celtic band - Fraid Knot!  You can buy VIP tickets ahead of time (which might be a good idea considering how busy it will likely be) from

St. James corner - Downtown

St. James corner is a classic choice for St. Patrick's day. Unfortunately they aren't very good at promoting what they are doing for St. Patrick's day. :( And while I'm sure its a lot I can't tell you what it is.

Joyce on 4th

Joyce on 4th is a great choice because of its size you're more likely to have space here.  They open at 9am on St. Patricks day and start serving liquor at 10am. They are accepting reservations until 2pm.  They will feature Irish dancers and bag pipers as well! Sounds like a loud party.

Similar to other pubs they are hosting a St. Patrick's day eve party as well. They'll have the Irish dancers and bag pipers, green beer, and $5 Irish car bombs. Don't forget to wear green as they'll be handing out prizes!

Get lucky
